Tupperware - who'd have thought it?

I don't often admit this, but many many years ago when we were broke and contemplating me giving up work to have a family (so potentially becoming even more broke) I tried selling Tupperware on a (then) newfangled party plan scheme. I probably did it for about a year and it was an eye-opener - a window into another world of Americanised sales pitches, cheap gift incentives and coporate hoo-rah. Anyhow, for various reasons I gave it up, but it left me with a lot of Tupperware (yes, you had to buy your samples). But, see, here's the thing, I've used the stuff over the years, well, most of it anyway, and that stuff with a ten year guarantee has lasted (so far) 34 years and it still works. it hasn't cracked or warped, so proof of the pudding and all that...

A couple of years ago my little sugar container with the push button lid broke however a friend produced an unused one from the back of her cupboard. Yay!

Anyhow, today I had to throw out my pastry sheet. The two layers of laminated plastic had finally begun to separate and bubble. It's not high tech, just a plastic sheet with pre-marked circles for rolling out pastry and keeping the mess confined, but after 34 years, even though I don't do all that much baking, I find am oddly bereft. I may have to buy Tupperware again, or search for a replacement sheet of some kind.

No I'm not having a Tupperware party, that would be too silly. Lakeland Plastics, maybe?

If I find one while shopping Stateside, should I buy it for you? They sell Tupperware at kiosks at some malls here.
Thanks anyway, but no. I've found a silicone one on Lakeland Plastics and ordered it, so I should be OK with that. When do you get back home?
Okay, cool. I've bought So Much Stuff....a whole new wardrobe, lots of cheap aran yarn for afghans, and more. I return on Friday 1 March. That's why I'm not sure I'll make the meeting on the 3rd: might be too jetlagged. (Which reminds me I need to send round my submission.)
Well, it woud be great if you can come, but I understand if you can't.
Lakeland have a wonderful array of kitchen items and I find it nearly as much fun to browse through their catalogues as it is to browse for stationary. :) I try to avoid buying stuff though because unless it's something I'm going to use regularly, we don't have the storage space.
I've ordered a Lakeland silicone one and to make it up to a £30 order for fee postage also ordered another three cupboard caddys, which are immensely useful for little herb pots on the topmost shelves (which I can barely reach) and for packets of sauce mixes and custard powders. I've been promising myself some more of them for quite a while.
Lakeland, yes :)

They have the quick release silicone sheets for the bottom of the oven, and varieties of silicon sheets printed with circles and such.
Yes, found a lovely looking one, thanks. It can also be used for oven baking as well as rolling out.
My Tupperware has lasted very well too. Must be 25 years old at least.
Those of us of a certain age probably still have stacks of the stuff. Hundreds - or maybe thousands - of years from now they'll be unearthing it in near perfect condition in archaeological digs. One of the selling points was that it was made from the same kind of plastic they made undersea cables from. Very tough and not prone to breaking down.
